Whats IHOP?
The International House of Prayer(or IHOP) is, simply stated, a prayer meeting that has not ended since September 19, 1999. It is a large room that seats about 700 people which during the day is averaging around 400-500 people and during the night averaging 150 people except during the weekends during their 2 encountering God services which are solely focused on studying Intimacy with Jesus during the end-times or sometimes they focus on just end-times it is usually packed out and sometimes filling the overflow room. They have a worship band playing at all times and the prayer room is driven by the these teams. Every 2 hours the direction of prayer changes. For example from 6am-8am there will be an intercession set that is focused on praying for different places suffering from human trafficking. Then the next 2 hour set will be a worship with the word set(explained here) also they have a devotional set(also explained at the link).
I would say IHOP is focused on 2 primary topics: preparing the Bride of Christ for the end times and Intimacy with Jesus. They offer TONS of teachings and books on these subjects and offer classes to help with these. IHOP a few years ago started an education program which is exploding. It is made of 3 different branches: FSM(Forerunner School of Ministry), FMA(Forerunner Music Academy) and a new program that hasn’t launched called NSM(Nightwatch School of Ministry). These 3 wings of IHOP-U offer many classes. Although, not accredited yet, IHOP is working next to Oral Roberts University to become accredited. Apperantly the Department of Education has a problem with accrediting schools that require you to participate in religeous practices such as prayer, and as a part of IHOP-U each student is required to spend 24 hours a week in the prayer room. The many classes are focused around studying the Bible, prayer, preaching and worship. I recently took a class on the book of Daniel with a teacher named Alan Hood…it changed my view on life! Amazing!!!! They also have a huge program for children known as CEC and they have a summer conference for these kids and thousands of youth show up every year for that.
This should help with some questions. Please feel free to post any ?s or comments and I’ll answer right away. Thanks!
